I was in third grade. The place was Fort Stockton, Texas. We were preparing for our classroom Christmas party at the end of the school day, our moms would come, and we were having a little skit. I had a red corduroy jumper with a white frilly blouse beneath it that would serve as my costume.
Because, as I told my parents, I was playing the part of "Poison Etta."
Well, I thought that's what the teacher said anyway. You can go by the name poinsettia if you like, but my version is easier to spell.
